We are founded and fronted by a qualified physicist, secondary science teacher and examiner. More information on Huw (Welsh spelling of the English name Hugh) can be found below.

Qualifications

Huw is a qualified physicist, secondary science teacher and examiner. He has qualifications in all sciences and
mathematics at GCSE and A-Level. He completed a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Physics with
Astronomy at the University Of Nottingham. He holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) and
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) via a Graduate Training Programme (GTP). He assesses science examinations
for the AQA, OCR and Edexcel examination boards every year. He supports students preparing to study physics
at university level, including with UCAS personal statements, UCAS references and entry examination
preparation.

Experience

Huw has taught science (biology, chemistry and physics) since 2011, to year groups 7-13, plus adult learners, studying these examination boards and specifications: at GCSE, AQA Science, Edexcel Science (including the International specification, a.k.a. IGCSE), OCR 21st Century Science, OCR Gateway Science and WJEC/Eduqas Science - all including higher tier and separate biology, chemistry and physics content; at A-Level, AQA Physics, CAIE Physics, Edexcel Physics (including the International specification), OCR Physics A, OCR Physics B and WJEC/Eduqas Physics. He has also taught the International Baccalaureate Diploma in Physics, plus National 4/5 Physics and Higher/Advanced Higher Physics in Scotland.

H. Arrowsmith Tuition

In 2016, Huw set up his own tuition company, H. Arrowsmith Tuition. He currently operates this full-time. Tuition has many advantages over traditional classroom teaching for both the teacher and student. As a teacher, it enables him to help students on a wholly individual basis - a level of support difficult to achieve in a classroom environment. It also gives him control over his working hours, enabling more flexibility which allows him the necessary time to plan high quality, structured, effective, stimulating and personalised lessons for the students that he has the pleasure to teach.
